VHF and UHF repeater system upgrades

Over the weekend of September 24, 2005 the "new" MITREK VHF and UHF repeaters
were both put on the air.  Although the cabinet, with both repeater has been on-site
since early August, 2005, there has been a few bugs to work out or different items to
procure before finally putting the devices up for use.

A new VHF antenna system has been installed and the original VHF antenna is now
being used to provide packet communications on the frequencies of 145.730 MHz and
the APRS nation-wide frequency of 144.390 MHz.  The packet operation has been very
busy since the increase in height and location change has occurred.

The overall and consistent coverage area, of the VHF and UHF repeaters has
increased dramatically since the new antenna systems have been deployed.  As soon
as it can be accomplished, a coverage map will be added to the site to indicate where
all area hams can expect to
be within the hand-held and mobile coverage contours.

Check back here soon, please, for this information.
