Welcome and Thank you for joining us here.
Who we are
The Guadalupe Valley Amateur Radio Club is an ARRL affiliated group that was formed to bring together the amateurs of Comal and surrounding counties. A number of the members saw a renewed need for a formal club, similar to the one of earlier years and therefore decided to request the callsign of the past New Braunfels High School Amateur Radio be granted to honor that past organization.
That was done and now WB5LVI is issued to them and will be used to identify our repeaters, during Field Day operations and as the net control callsign during training and real emergency operations.
What we wish to accomplish
Many years passed before the resurrection of this club. During that passage of time, many changes occurred to our hobby. To bring those changes to light, to get area hams participating in the education of each other and newly interested individuals to this hobby, is the major goal of this club organization and other area organizations.
Different technologies have changed the types of communication amateurs use to communicate with one another and a need to understand how these affect the Amateur Emergency communications mission is vital to the continued existence of this hobby. A training agenda is incorporated in the club's
How and when it happens
With the beginning of a continuing education program and training of presently licensed amateurs the club has heightened the interest in all facets of our hobby. The club members will continue to work with the area Public Service organizations, Local and State law enforcement agencies, churches and civic groups, to help them accomplish their missions.
Utilizing all of the capabilities we have to provide communications during public events and emergencies will bring the club and the community leaders together, thereby providing a more solid understanding of how the Amateur Radio Hobby has been vitally important to the ovrerall growth of considerable number of public Wireless Services we enjoy today.
